Art
Sometimes a little inspiration is right under our noses … some items from my studio seem particularly appealing today. Most of these treasures arrived via Grandma I, the artist and Grandma H, the family historian.
The next client to request an antique aesthetic is in for a treat…

OCW Magazine is putting on an art exhibit of handmade bookmarks at the Vancouver (downtown) Library September 25, 2011. I am working on my bookmark today for the show, wondering why I haven’t made more of these in the past. This winter we’re going to launch Shop Anthem, a place to buy designed paper goods and apparel, and I have the feeling that a few bookmarks just might make their way into the mix.
If you happen to be in the city on September 25, stop in for a look 11-5. Proceeds go to the non-profit OCW Arts + Publishing Foundation. www.ocwmagazine.ca

Opening July 1, 2011 in Hood River OR, this exhibition features a collection of artistic interpretations inspired by urban environments. New work by Emily Haggar is below.

The Telus Ski + Snowboard Festival is coming to Whistler once again… come by for the opening of State of the Art, an exhibition of new artwork, beginning April 15. Anthem owner + creative director Emily Haggar will be showing a collection of experimental drawings from a body of work entitled Malleable World Project. It should be a great night.
Last week I had the honor of visiting the studio of Gail and Zachariah Rieke. Below is a picture of Gail’s studio. She is a internationally acclaimed assemblage artist living in Santa Fe NM with her husband Zach, also internationally known for painting. Their daughter Sialia was exhibiting her wonderful leather books at the family’s private gallery.
I deeply enjoyed my time at their studio discovering treasures from this extremely talented family. Thank you for the visit.
